I have been traveling to many cities around Australia over the past 9 months presenting about deafness and well being to many local Deaf communities. At the same time I have been promoting the 4th World congress on Mental Health and Deafness which will be held in Brisbane on the 28th – 30th October this year.
I have given a total of 21 workshops to many cities around Australia. I have met so many deaf and hard of hearing individuals. I would like to praise and thank those people who attended the workshops. These people shared their own experiences and participated in exercises to help understand their feelings of happiness, sadness, and anger and contributed to discussions relating to coping strategies.
I have finished the community road show and I am currently focusing on creating a report which I will share at the Congress. This report will show my findings over the past 9 months and share with you the value these workshops have given to the local Deaf communities around Australia.
Once again, I would like to say thank you so much. Being involved in these workshops has been a wonderful experience for me and I would like to say thank you again to all of the people who attended the workshops. This Congress would not be the same without your input and involvement.
I look forward to seeing you all at the congress.
Feedback from the Roadshow:
"I just wanted to leave feedback on the Mental Health & Deafness Workshop that was held in Burwood last night. Petra Svab is a vibrant presenter who has overcome many struggles during her life. She is inspiring and I enjoyed her presentation and workshop very much. We discussed topics of Mental Health and Mental Illness. Although I don't sign, the interpreters present on the evening did a fantastic job of keeping us all communicating and informed. I'd encourage you all to try and get to these workshops and wish the best of success to all those involved in the upcoming 4th World Congress on Deafness and Mental Health in Brisbane in October" name withheld, NSW
