Research on the experience of schizophrenia in the Deaf community - Canada

Hello. I am a first time blogger so please excuse me if I make a technical error. I am writing from Winnipeg, Manitoba CANADA.
I am hearing though have an older brother who is prelingually and profoundly Deaf. He and his wife, who is also Deaf, communicate only through sign language. I also speak sign language so we communicate that way.
I am interested in attending the Congress in Australia.
I am a Social Worker and also a third year Doctoral student in the Faculty of Social Work in the Province of Manitoba. I completed my research for my Master of Social Work degree on the "Barriers for the Deaf offender in the hearing criminal justice system" - (I work as a Parole officer here in Canada and felt it important to explore the experiences of those offenders or members of the community who had involvement with our police or jail system). I would now explore the experience of schizophrenia for members of our Deaf community here in Manitoba, Canada.
I have been visiting this site and am excited by all I see. I would love to visit with or hear from people who may have some thoughts as to my research, suggestions for me, or general thoughts on the topic.
Thank you , Tracey
