Get involved -So You Think Deaf Can Dance?
In a collaborative project with Arts Access Victoria, the congress Hosts have worked to engage and encourage the participation of deaf and hard of hearing people. The project includes the dance workshops and a performance opportunity, demonstrating the Congress theme and focusing on the development of self-identity. Together we are able to offer a fun-tastic program of Dance Workshops for deaf and hard of hearing people run by Deaf Arts Network!
Within the workshops, people are being encouraged to learn dance skills exploring self identity and to reflect
on their own experiences with depression and anxiety. The workshops will also be a great opportunity to get
everybody moving to the beat, including various dance styles such as Hip Hop, Latin, Contemporary, Salsa and more!
Five participants will be selected from the workshops to perform to audiences at 4th World Congress on Mental Health and Deafness, 28-30 October.
Deaf Can Dance Proudly sponsored in partnership with Deaf Children Australia by Congress Sponsor beyondblue: the national depression initiative beyondblue
